For nearly 70 years, AHEPA has been honored to lay wreaths at Arlington Cemetery for fallen AHEPA Veteran grave sites at the annual Wreath Program. On May 26, 2018, AHEPA National Leadership and members from several AHEPA Chapters across the Washington DC metro area will participate in this solemn event.
With nearly half of all the participants hailing from our Chapter, it was a humbling experience to help lay wreaths for over 600 AHEPA Veterans. This year, honored one of our own as a group. Afterwards, some members and their families attended the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier to rounded out this very humbling experience at a special luncheon together at City Diner.
Our Chapter was honored to appear both nationally and internationally across several publications. Click / tap below to read all about it.
Chapter 542 Team
The participants for this event last year included several members of Chapter 2017-18 Leadership, including, Pete Margaros, President, Chad Burke, Vice President, Alex Kangelaris, Treasurer, and Dean Economou, Chair / Board of Governors, plus many members of the Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church in Sterling, VA.
Witnessing History
Although it happens on the half hour every single day, for the AHEPA participants on this day, it was very special to see this during Memorial Day weekend in 2018.
